What the E-and-digit code is
The installation check list for the CornuFé 36 inch (Albertine) and 44 inch induction ranges says plainly that E + 1 digit is an error code. It belongs to the zone being checked.
How the zone check reads it
Each zone is run through its functions in turn, about 10 seconds per function is enough: the low settings L2 and L3, then power 1 up to power 9.
Water in the pan starts to heat as the power rises.
The knob is then turned back counter-clockwise to 0.
If no E with a digit appeared for that zone, the zone works properly.
The same is repeated for every zone, and for the bridging zone with both knobs.
During the same test the pan symbol means the pan is not suitable for induction, and H appears as the glass gets hot. Neither of those is an error code.

Er and a number is the internal-fault message in the user guides.
U400 points to a wrong connection on the same ranges.
H is the normal heat indicator seen during the test.
