A 36 inch CornuFé 90 gas range, with a short checklist to prepare for the visit.
The C9WN is a current 36 inch gas range in the CornuFé 90 line. It has three close relatives, the C9NF, C9NN and C9WF. As with each of them, we rely on the model and serial plate and never on a reading of the letters. For the wider context see CornuFé 90 and La Cornue ranges.
The more clearly the problem is described, the fewer surprises on arrival. Owners who send a short note and two photographs usually get a more efficient visit. Think of it as assembling a file on the range.
Do these a single time, and do not repeat them in a loop. Confirm power at the breaker, and the gas shut-off handle position. Lift off the burner caps and heads, let them dry, and set them back. Close the oven door and check for a gap. If the range has a power reset available, perform one controlled reset by switching the breaker off, waiting a moment and switching it back on. Then stop.
Leave the panels alone. A gas smell means exit, avoid switches, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. A burning smell or sparks mean the breaker goes off.
The C9WN usually sits under a matching hood, and the two share the work of keeping the kitchen clean. A clogged filter lets grease settle on knobs and caps, and that in turn leads to sticky controls. Cleaning the hood filter is a legitimate owner task. Service for the range itself is under La Cornue range repair. For the hood, see La Cornue range hood repair.
The technician checks ignition, flame and oven, then writes an estimate. You read it and decide. Nothing is repaired without your approval. If the plate is hard to read because of grease or paint, tell us and we will work from what is visible, then confirm in person.
Our guide on finding the model number shows the usual spots.
