About this model

Model overview

Three fuels, two names

The CornuFé 90 measures 35.4 inches and comes as gas, dual fuel or induction. The series is listed as CornuFé / Albertine, and the induction version appears in our records as Albertine 36 Induction. Because one model carries so many identities, the first question on any call is what is actually in your kitchen. A dual fuel range pairs gas burners with an electric oven, so it can fail on either side. Look for it among La Cornue ranges.

Four specific gas ranges belong to this size too: C9NF, C9NN, C9WF and C9WN. If your plate shows one of those, you have a gas model.

How the fuel changes the diagnosis

  • Gas: ignition, flame quality and the oven burner.
  • Dual fuel: the same gas checks on top, plus oven elements, thermostat and the circuit feeding them.
  • Induction: pan detection, coil behavior, cooling and the display messages.

A dual fuel range surprises owners because the cooktop can work perfectly while the oven stays cold, and the reverse. Report each half separately.

Induction messages

For the induction version, read U as a pan problem and U400 as a connection problem, where the control switches off about a second after starting and the code remains. Our page on induction error codes lists the rest. Do not try to clear a fault by repeated resets.

Supply and setting

This size is common in Bay Area remodels where a contractor set the range and left the details to the finish carpenter. Gas and dual fuel ranges need a secure gas connection and a flat floor, and dual fuel and induction need an electrical circuit sized for the load. If the range was installed recently and trouble began soon after, the install is the first place we look. The note on range installation checks explains what that involves.

Owner steps

  1. Establish which fuel type you have from the plate or paperwork.
  2. Check the breaker, and the gas valve if you have burners.
  3. Dry and reseat burner caps, or try a different pan on induction.
  4. Write down what you see on the display.

A gas smell sends you outside to call the gas utility or 911. Sparks or a burning smell mean the breaker goes off.
